We visited Kamikaze Peace Memorial in memory of my grandfather who was in service of second WW at Okinawa in 1945. In those days, Japanese army took daily airforce attacks called Kamikaze maily from here Chiran, Kagoshima, close to Okinawa island.
In Japan, there are lots of Kamikaze stories we must not forget, one of those is the existence of Mother of Kamikaze fighters, Ms.Tome Torihama, who had taken care of them just belore the day of flight serving free dinner for them and listening to their last messages. Here in Chiran, they have a peacse memorial togther with young fighters and destroyed Zero fighter as well. We have deeply impressed by the story at the very end of the war how fishters thought about their family, sweethearts, and Tome san.
Near here, you can now enjoy Yakushima island, one of the world heritages, as well as one of the best hospital regarding cancer with Ibusuki onsen stay. Japan has long long story, so that you better visit not only Tokyo, Kyoto, Hiroshima, but this kind of destination far from Tokyo, which enable you to think twice about the meaning of your lives again.
